Once your coin is clean it is time to identify it. This is called attribution! This is where a magnifying glass and some light are really needed. Inspect your coin and read as much text as you can. Write this down along with the name of ruler or god on the obverse. You will learn the bust styles after a little while and this will get easier. Armed with this info select one of the on line attribution and identification sites listed below. A new window will open so you don't lose your place here. If you have a favorite archive to research ancient coins that you would like to recommend, please let us know!
